2 Ways To Treat A Wart

Warts can be an unsightly problem. If people notice that you have a wart, they may not want to shake your hand because they are afraid that you will somehow contaminate them and they will end up with a wart as well. So, what can you do to get rid of the wart?

Duct Tape

It may sound crazy, but there are a lot of people who swear by duct tape when it comes to getting rid of warts. The process isn't a quick one, it may take a few weeks to months to see the full results. What you need to do is to cut a piece of duct tape to just a little bit bigger than the wart. You want to make sure that it covers the entire wart, but you don't want to have a lot of extra hanging around. Then you leave that piece of tape on the wart for six days, if it falls off, just replace it and continue in the original six day cycle. When you take the tape off, wash it well and then use something like a pumice stone or emery board to gently scrape off what skin will come off. Leave it uncovered overnight, and then start again the next day.

See a Dermatologist

Another choice you have is to go see a dermatologist. They have many more treatments available to them than what you do. One treatment they can use on your wart is a freezing treatment. There are OTC wart freezing kits that you can use, but they aren't as strong as what the doctor has and may take several treatments. The dermatologist will use liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart. The wart will quickly turn white because the tissue is freezing. Within a couple of days, you should be able to see some black dots in the wart. This is a sign that the treatment is working. When you see the dark dots, don't pull off the wart even if you want to. You may have to go see the dermatologist a couple of times to make sure that the procedure is successful.

Getting rid of a wart can make you feel better about yourself. You just want to make sure that you get rid of all of it so that it doesn't come back later and get bigger. If it does that, then it will take more work to go away.
